Meet Lavita Galloway

Lavita (Anderson) Galloway inspires students in the classroom as a science teacher and outside of class as a creative writer of children's books, http://www.storytimewithmsanderson.com/ Little did she know her own love story was being written when she met her future husband in February 2023 and married in November 2024 at age 40.

How Did You Meet Your Husband?

I met my husband, Tré, in a beautifully unexpected way—through a Christian faith-based group on Facebook. Among the sea of voices, his message found its way to me, sparking a connection that would change our lives forever.

Did You Think He Would Be Your Husband?

I wasn’t entirely sure at first, especially given the challenges I’d faced in previous years. When I met Tré, I was curious about where this connection might lead but also focused on simply meeting a great person. I hoped to grow from the experience, particularly in learning how to communicate better with the opposite sex.

How Long Did You Date Before Marrying?

We met in February 2023, became a couple on December 31, 2023, and tied the knot in November 2024.

Family and Friends Reactions

What was the reaction of family and friends when you told them you were getting married?

The reaction of our family and friends was pure joy and excitement! What made it even more special was that my family already knew about the engagement before I did. Tré had spoken to my father to ask for my hand in marriage, and my sister even helped him figure out my ring size—all without me suspecting a thing. When the announcement finally came, everyone was thrilled and couldn’t wait to celebrate this next chapter in our lives.

Our Wedding

Where Did You Get Married?

We got married in Martinsville Virginia at Fellowship Church.

What Do You Remember Most About Your Wedding Day?

What I remember most about my wedding day was the beautiful prayer my father, Bishop Anderson, led. Hearing him pray over our union was deeply moving, but what made it even more special was the sound of all the saints joining in. Their prayers filled the sanctuary, and the presence of God was tangible. It was a powerful and sacred moment that I will cherish forever.

As a newly married woman, I’m actively learning how to make decisions as a team and not as an individual. It's not about me, but it's about us.

What misconception do you think never-been-married singles have about marriage?

Many singles hold misconceptions about marriage, such as believing it must occur by a certain age, leading to rushed decisions. Some think they must settle due to a perceived lack of suitable partners.

Advice to Unmarried Sisters

What advice or words of wisdom do you have for single sisters?

Singleness is a gift marriage is a gift don’t reject your current season trying to get to the other.
